Our national boxers from Fenerbahce, who made our community and country proud with the medals they won at the U22 Men’s and Women’s European Boxing Championships, returned to their homeland.
In the championship hosted by the Croatian city of Porec, Kerem Özmen, who became the U22 European Champion by gaining a great advantage over his Armenian opponent Artur Shakhpazyan, whom he faced in the 63.5 kilo final, and Croatian opponent Nikolina Cacic in the women’s 52 kilo final, had a hard time in the first round and Fenerbahce boxers Gizem En and Nurullah Oyan, who won the bronze medal as the 3rd in Europe, returned to Turkey, as well as Hatice Akbaş, who became the U22 European Champion by knockout.
Fenerbahce Boxing Branch Manager Selahattin Atasever and the athletes of our boxing branch greeted our national boxers, who landed at Istanbul Airport late at night, with Fenerbahçe and Turkish flags. Turkish Boxing Federation President Eyüp Gözgeç and federation officials were also present at the airport.
At the end of the U22 Men’s and Women’s European Boxing Championship, our Women’s National Team was 4; Our Men’s National Team was also at the top of the team ranking with 6 medals.
