Fenerbahçe Beko Men’s Basketball Team is hosting Alba Berlin in the 21st-week postponement match of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Our Head Coach Aleksandar Djordjevic and player Jan Vesely’s pre-match comments regarding the match to be played on Tuesday, March 29 (tomorrow) at 21.00 at Ülker Sports and Event Hall are as follows:
Aleksandar Djordjevic: “We are going through the most difficult period for us in terms of the match schedule. We will have our fourth match in seven days, and considering our travel tempo, we first need to find the energy needed for this match within ourselves. Alba Berlin is a young team that can run the field well and play basketball at a brisk pace. We need to stop this game of theirs, and in order to do that, we must first take action against our opponent’s creative players. At this point, we must be able to stop not only Alba Berlin’s short players, but also Luke Sikma, one of Europe’s most important long setters. Besides, we are unfortunately still struggling with some injury issues which prevent us from reaching the ideal situation. But we must realize the importance of this encounter. We are still playing the Playoffs, and in order to achieve this goal, we must play by thinking that every next match is the most important match of our lives. After a break of about two months, we will appear in front of our fans in the EuroLeague. Playing with them always gives my players confidence and that’s exactly what we need right now to be able to overcome any challenge and win.”
Jan Vesely: “It will be a tough match. After a long break, we will play at home in the EuroLeague. Especially after our last away trip, we have to show our character in this match. We must fight to win with all our energy and motivation.”
