VakıfBank 3-2 Fenerbahce Opet

Fenerbahçe Opet Women’s Volleyball Team lost 3-2 against VakıfBank in the AXA Sigorta Cup Volley final match hosted by Ankara.

Sets 21-25, 25-21, 25-13, 27-29 and 17-15 were completed for the struggle, which was the scene of great contention. Fenerbahce Opet, TVF Deputy Chairman Ahmet Goksu presented the second prize to captain Eda Erdem Dundar.

Our Board Members Simla Türker Bayazıt and Nüket Küçükel Ezberci, President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation Mehmet Akif Üstündağ and former Minister of Interior Abdülkadir Aksu also watched the match, in which our fans filled the stands at Ankara Başkent Volleyball Hall.

Fenerbahce Opet takes the field; It came out with a banner that read ‘Violence against women is a crime against humanity’.

Our team is in spades; It started with six of Melissa Vargas, Meliha İsmailoğlu, Naz Aydemir Akyol, Eda Erdem Dündar, Mina Popovic, Arina Fedorovtseva and libero Gizem Örge.

After the 14-16 score in the first set, which started with mutual points, the Yellow Angels caught a 6-0 series and gave their opponent a timeout: 16-20. Our team, which did not lose its score advantage after the time-out, won the set 21-25.

The Yellow Angels fell back 10-7 in the second set, and a time-out came from our Head Coach Zoran Terzic. In the remaining section, the gap did not dissolve and VakıfBank won the second set 25-21.

Having difficulty in stopping Isabelle Haak in the last part of the third set, our team lost the set 25-13.

In the fourth set, which was balanced, the score advantage constantly changed hands with mutual numbers. Fenerbahce Opet, who won the set 27-29, the last part of which was the scene of great contention, brought the match score to 2-2.

The Yellow Angels, who started the fifth set very well, made the score 4-7 and the opponent took a break. Our team, leading 6-8 in the field change, fell back 14-12 after 9-9 equalities. Equalizing the score at 14-14 with the blocks of Dicle and Melisa Vargas, our team could not take the advantage in the last section and lost the set 17-15 and the match 3-2.
