Our coach, Nihan Su, evaluated the undesirable field events that took place in the last minutes of the match, where Fenerbahçe Women’s Football Team defeated Amed Sportif Activities 2-1 in the 17th week of the league, to Fenerbahçe Television.
Evaluating the events experienced by the opposing team players in the last minutes of the Amed Sportive Activities match, the Technical Director of our Fenerbahçe Women’s Football Team, Nihan Su, said:I can say that we are extremely sorry for what happened in our match today. They were images that none of us really wanted. We were deeply saddened to encounter such a situation on the field where women play football. It saddened our community, our fans, and our players. Actually, when we look at it, we had a 3-1 match that we had in the first half and we finished without any problem in the game. Then of course we came to this city. Here, too, we were well received, and that’s how we started the game. In fact, we played the game in a very friendly atmosphere with the technical team, the administrative team, the managers and the players of the other team. But then, of course, after the referee of the match allowed it a little, after he scored the second goal, while my player was putting the ball in, the player of the other team suddenly came to our player – our defenseless player – and committed physical violence. Of course, the instantaneous occurrence of those images required us to intervene there, and with the involvement of other players in the event and our side players entering, the images are already in your hands, by kicking and hitting each of them violently, images that we did not want occurred. In the meantime, of course, while we were trying to calm both sides, the fans who came to the stands began to throw bricks and sticks on both our players and us. There we were in a really bad and undesirable position. I can clearly say that as a woman who is at the head of this team, I am very, very sorry. We swore a lot. In addition, there was no bad speech against Amed Sportive Activities, against the game, against the players, against the referee, from our own technical and administrative team or our players. I can say this with confidence. Of course, we are very, very sorry for these events. Our women should play football in safe environments. Every club’s managers, coaches and players should approach this in the same way. We have foreign players among us and they are also in shock right now. Because encountering such a situation in our own country has greatly affected them. We are currently in a safe environment. We want to leave the city in the safest way and come to Istanbul. But our players are psychologically affected by this situation right now.” said.
Nihan Su said that in addition to the violence on the pitch, various items were thrown from the stands, so there were injured names in both our player group and our technical team.Unfortunately, our players are battered, our technical team has items that hit our teachers. Our healthcare team is also trying to solve this situation. At the moment, we are trying to stay calm and fix the psychology of the players completely. So we put the game aside. I wish none of this had happened. From here, I want to call out to all sports fans, all the officials, managers and referees who are in charge of this business: Please, let’s not make things like this. Let our girls, our women and girls who will come after us continue to play football and do sports in safe environments. This is my only wish, this is my wish. Here, both our President and our Board Members are in direct contact with us. They are trying to increase the motivation of our team and to solve this situation we are experiencing. In this sense, I would like to thank our President, our Managers and our community. I also want to say to the fans: no matter what happens, we will continue to fight and fight for Çubuklu, no matter what comes our way on this road, but I am very sorry for the situation we are experiencing. I apologize to everyone for being in a situation that we do not want in any way.” he said.
Our Technical Director, Nihan Su, ended her words as follows:
“The match ended in a very tense atmosphere. First of all, we tried to ensure the safety of our players. Riot Squad teams were with us and tried to send them to the locker room as quickly as possible. There was a shock situation in our own locker room, our players were very confused and we had players crying. On the other hand, we tried not to make that contact at all, because if we intervened while the event was hot at that moment, it would have taken the event to different places. We’re all supposed to be cool. At the end of the match and when we entered the safer times, we talked to their managers and Mr. Onur (Basar) as well as his coaches from the technical team and said that we should be a little calmer and get out of this situation in the healthiest way, and that they should be sensitive to us in this regard. In this way, we are now at the hotel.”
